A degree from the Greenlee School allows students to pursue a variety of careers in the communications field. Employers look for candidates with a strong background in communications, including writing skills, digital storytelling, photography, videography, brand management, social media management and customer relations — all of which Greenlee students learn throughout their second-to-none adventure.
Students prepare for careers in advertising, journalism and mass communication, and public relations by putting the skills they learn in the classroom into practice. Student media and professional organizations are an integral aspect of the Greenlee experience. The work students create for publications like the Iowa State Daily, ISUtv or any of the several student magazines and the contacts they make through professional organizations like PRSSA and Ad Club. In addition to experience gained from student publications and organizations, all Greenlee majors must complete a 400-hour professional media internship before graduating. These internships allow students to gain professional media experience while being mentored and evaluated by both media professionals and their faculty advisers. Find out more about required internships here, and check out where Greenlee students have completed internships in the past here.
